All of our dedicated associates possess a strong continuing focus on safety, reliability and environmental compliance.Open the door to your future at AmSty!Overview:The Process Engineer (Mechanical Integrity and Process Safety) is responsible for leading the mechanical integrity and process safety programs in the Joliet polystyrene plant to ensure adherence to PSM requirements and corporate process safety policies, work processes and standards with emphasis on the mechanical integrity element of PSM. This position will serve as a subject matter expert and champion to drive strong mechanical integrity performance and process safety culture in the plant. The position provides a lead role in overseeing compliance and managing process safety risk at the site.Primary Responsibilities:Lead the plant mechanical integrity efforts including managing vessel, piping, and relief device inspections and repairs, as well as managing the corrosion under insulation (CUI) program and testing and maintenance of safety instrumented systems (SIS) and preventive maintenance of mechanical integrity covered equipment (MICE).Lead the plant process safety program to drive performance improvement and ensure adherence to process safety management (PSM) requirements and corporate process safety policies, work processes, and standards at the plant level (e.g., pre-startup safety reviews, management of change, process hazard analysis).Direct risk assessment techniques including process hazard analyses and layers of protection analysis. Review and recommend risk evaluation methods for new projects.Lead, facilitate, or participate in plant incident investigations to determine root causes of incidents, especially those that are related to process safety.Provide training to plant personnel regarding the process safety and mechanical integrity program and procedures, as well as hazard recognition.Management of Change (MOC) coordinator for the site and responsible for maintaining process safety information.Compile, analyze, and report mechanical integrity and process safety metrics, and leverage the Process Safety and Reliability Networks in AmSty to identify and resolve opportunities for improvement. Ensure timely completion of action items resulting from process safety gaps identified during PHAs, audits, investigations, and self-assessments; manage the facility's action item process. Serve as the plant's subject matter expert in a specialty field of mechanical integrity and process safety.Initiate and manage small projects and capital projects related to mechanical integrity and process safety improvements.Job Requirements:Engineering degree (preferably chemical or mechanical).Practical working knowledge of mechanical integrity-related industry codes and standards (ASME, NACE, API 570/510/653).Preferred 5-7 years experience in a PSM-covered facility, though entry level applicants may be considered.Demonstrated skills and interest in mechanical integrity and process safety.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively develop and maintain relationships with all levels of the organization.
