We also offer a full range of education courses through our Power Systems Engineering Course.The Senior Application Engineer – Transfer Capability Expert will assist in developing Power system transfer capability tools. These new analytic tools will leverage the existing functionality of GE's Positive Sequence Load Flow (PSLF) software, Multi Area Production Simulation (MAPS) software, Multi Area Reliability Simulation (MARS) software. In this role, you will participate in the development of tools that will calculate the different types of power transfer capability, depending on the criteria and methods used to calculate them. You will coordinate the collection and modelling of data amongst multiple stakeholders and present findings.Job DescriptionRoles & ResponsibilitiesPartner with key stakeholders to understand functionality needs for the development of transfer capability analysis toolDevelop Python modules to integrate the transfer capability into the existing GE PSLF's Python APIWork with the team to develop real-world test cases to prove the capabilities of the tools as they are builtDevelop input data formats for the new tool leveraging existing GE PSLF's powerflow and contingency definitions formats where possible, collect data and model it in those formatsDevelop, and lead portions of, a real-world proof-of-concept analysis establishing, demonstrating, and teaching best practices for the usage of the power transfer capability tools to other members of the teamProvide software support for the new transfer capability analysis tool to internal and external customersRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field from an accredited college or universityMinimum 8 years' experience in Software Development, Power Systems Analysis, or the Energy Industry with focus on power systems modeling, power flow analysis, contingency and transfer analysisDemonstrated knowledge of Algorithm developmentDemonstrated experience programming in PythonDemonstrated knowledge of bulk electric system economicsDesired CharacteristicsExperience in developing power transfer capability tools including thorough understanding of calculation of various types like Total transfer capability, Available transfer capability, Transmission reliability margin and Capacity benefit marginDemonstrated knowledge of power systems modeling, power flow analysis and dynamics, numerical solution methods, continuation power flow and sparsity techniquesExperience in developing/working knowledge of various transmission adequacy and reliability assessment tools available in market in planning software like TARA, PowerWorld, PowerFactoryDemonstrated knowledge of contingency processing techniques and Industry Reliability standards like North American Electric Reliability Corporation's TPL (Transmission Planning), TOP (Transmission Operations) and MOD (Modeling, Data and Analysis) standardsDemonstrated software development skills in modern object-oriented languages (at least one of C#, Java, or Python)Experience working with large datasets and Hierarchical Data Format (HDF) Demonstrated application of complex mathematics and engineering to real-world electric power system problemsStrong communication and problem-solving skillsExperience programming in C#Experience with software build process, unit testing, and software QAExperience with Mercurial, GIT, or other distributed revision control software and developing engineering software toolsProduction Cost Modelling experience is a plusSelf-starter with the ability to lead development projectsProficient with Microsoft Office SuiteMasters / PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fieldIf this role is contracted in the U.S.: 127,700.00 - 170,200.00 - 212,800.00 USDThe salary rangefor this position is 127,700- 212,800 USD annually.
