Job Summary: The Strategic Pricing Manager is responsible for collecting, analyzing and evaluating data on products, costs, and markets to support development and presentation of appropriate price and bid strategy. The Strategic Pricing Manager will also monitor and optimize pricing strategy through process control and variance analysis, while c ollaborating with Sales, Operations, Scope Development, Estimating, and other stakeholders. Working together with other functions in the company, coordinates, manages, and delivers pricing within the workflow of deal desk for respective business segments in order to ensure a timely delivery of pricing proposal.
Analyzes deal desk opportunities in light of competition, customer, and relevant factors in the opportunity itself to create a pricing proposal with winning the deal profitably as the goal. Develops and updates list price as appropriate with analyses on customer's willingness-to-pay, profitability, competition, and business segment growth as key factors to consider. Perform pricing analysis on past deals including Quotes new business opportunities. Develops and defines appropriate price guidelines and bid strategy for Division. Develops effective segmentation strategy and variance based analysis to define floor and ceiling price points. Establishes and manages adherence to guidelines and delegation of pricing authority. Defines and manages approval process through regular reviews of price variance charts and metrics. Prepare analysis and other background materials such as relevant comparables to ensure effective price reviews on large opportunities with cross-functional stakeholders. Assists in new business close strategy. Performs annual review of all quotes as part of renewal process. Modifies prices to eliminate excessive discounting. Provides management with monthly metrics to monitor pricing performance of business segments including win/loss tracking, quote variance to guidelines, sell price trends, speed to quote, etc. Analyze sales date, customer data, product usage data, and financial data to uncover actionable insights and build a shared fact base. Maintains product knowledge and regularly monitors industry-pricing practices particularly for major competitors. Understands current economic conditions and financial implications for business segment(s). Understands value position of products and services against competition, competing alternatives, and internal product offering. Bachelor degree (BS) in a related field required; advanced degree and/or certification is a plus. 2-3 years of relevant pricing or commercial product management experience; signage/construction industry experience is a plus Strong analytical and quantitative skills High-level attention to details and ability to prioritize multiple projects at once Excellent PC skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel required. Proficiency with other systems such as ERP, CPQ, Power BI or other visual analytics tools preferred. Proficiency with SFDC a plus.
