The ideal candidate will have experience teaching in an early childhood setting with ages 3-5, and is able to work well with a dedicated team, foster a positive learning environment, design age-appropriate curriculum, and communicate effectively with families.For 33 years theRoots Daycarehas been nurturing infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in Colchester, VT. Position Type: Full TimePrimary Responsibilities:Provide enrichment for children's social, physical, and academic development within our program. Develop age-appropriate lessons and activities that promote and support the building of social skills, practical capabilities and self-esteemImplement day-to-day activities, complete on-going assessmentsCollaborate with lead teachers to supervise, guide and encourage children's learning and developmentOrganize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure their safety at all timesCommunicate with parents regularly on their child's day to day progressMaintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standardsRequirements:1-2 years of relevant childcare experience (preferably with children under age 5)High School Diploma or GED (Associate Degree with a major in Early Childhood, Child or Human Development, Elementary Education or Child & Family Services is preferred)Qualified as a Teacher Associate as defined by the State of Vermont's Child Development DivisionDemonstrated interest and ability to work with young childrenKnowledge of appropriate practices in early childhood developmentDemonstrated success in working as a member of a teamEffective and strong communication skills, written and verbalWillingness to work flexible hours in order to meet the needs of the programAbility to lift 25-30 lbsAbility to squat, kneel, sit on the floor, as well as speak with children and families to ensure the health and safety of each childVIP and Roots Daycare prioritize a healthy work/life balance and is thoroughly invested in the health and well being of their employees.Our benefits package is impossible to beat!!
