There are great neighborhoods around Phoenix, with easy access to a major city, nature, the arts and many more amenities.DescriptionUnder general supervision, this position provides technical analysis and field investigations for engineering projects and operations related to electrical power facilities.Conduct power system studies including load flow, short-circuit, and protection/coordinationPerforms reviews of engineering designs and procedures on small to medium sized industrial power systemsPerform scoping and trade-off studies for electrical systems supporting capital projectsProvide support and perspective to electrical engineers throughout the company on applicable processes, practices, standards, and regulationsContribute to the improvement of company operations including asset optimization, safety, troubleshooting and documentation of power systemsAssist in developing standards and criteria regarding power system studies and system designMay contribute to site planning and budgeting efforts for electrical equipment and requirementsMay evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of engineering servicesPerforms other duties as required.QualificationsMinimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline, from an accredited engineering program, with no experience required Knowledge of the principles and methods used in the analysis of transmission and distribution systemsKnowledge of software: AutoCAD, SKM-PTW, ETAPAble to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions Able to scope and design studies, and then assist with equipment audits to verify or update all engineering documentationAbility to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautionsAbility to travel domestically and internationally (20-30%)Ability to follow safety practices and recognizing hazards Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingPreferred Qualifications:Advanced degree in Power Engineering or relevant discipline of Electrical EngineeringClassification as "Engineering in Training" (EIT) through successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.Field experience in a utility or industrial environment working with electrical loads, switchgear, and/or substationsCriteria/Conditions:Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable state lawsWhat We Offer YouThe estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$76,000-$104,000.This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
