GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB Accurately receive merchandise into inventory, ensuring merchandise meets quality standards; accurately post purchase orders and reconcile inventory discrepancies; send all posting paperwork to Business Office in a timely manner; communicate with supervisor regarding any inventory errors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES I. Posting Accurately post all purchase orders Research and reconcile discrepancies to ensure an accurate accounting of inventory Review a variety of periodic reports for inventory shortages/overages, margin control, transfers, etc. Send posting documentation to Accounts Payable in timely manner Ensure merchandise credits are organized by vendor/department and that they are reviewed and processed regularly to maximize credit Upon request, or in response to a correction, initiate and complete transfers of inventory Upon request, conduct cycle counts of inventory Perform Receiving functions as required II. Receiving Electronically receive incoming deliveries of inventory Physically verify all merchandise receivings against manifests/invoices to verify correct quantity has been received Inspect condition of incoming inventory to ensure it arrives in good condition Maintain stockroom in an orderly, organized manner for safety and efficiency Research and resolve inventory discrepancies Transfer negative quantities to correct discrepancies, when required, to ensure inventory accuracy Scan merchandise to ensure that the UPC and/or SKU scan properly in the inventory management system Upon request, conduct cycle counts of inventory Perform Posting functions as required III.
