Evans School of Public Policy & Governance at the University of Washington is seeking a Postdoctoral ScholarThe position requires expertise in data and evidence relevant to South Asia, climate and adaptive behaviors, risk, gender, and agricultureThe Postdoctoral Scholar will work at the Evans School Policy Analysis and Research Group on topics related to agricultural development in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia
Job seniority: mid-to-senior level
Responsibilities
• Assess agronomically feasible adaptation strategies and technologies• Develop and apply an approach to quantify adaptation options• Support EPAR with risk profiles field project and current contracts• Curate and analyze panel socio-economic survey data• Draft and collaborate on manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and reports• Prepare and deliver presentations at academic conferences and workshops• Develop conceptual frameworks and assist with evidence reviews• Retrieve and conduct text analysis and topic modeling on large data sets• Collaborate with and mentor graduate student researchers• Train in economics and other data science or modeling skills
Requirements
• Ph.D. in agricultural economics or equivalent• Experience with Indian or South Asian household data• Knowledge of gender, agricultural, and climate adaptation challenges in South Asia• Excellent writing, research, and analysis skills• Strong statistical and econometric skills• Experience with Stata and spatial mapping software• Good organizational and project management skills• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
Key Skills Needed
• Proficiency with Stata• Familiarity with Indian and South Asian agricultural and spatial data• Knowledge of gender and climate adaptation
