Postdoctoral Fellow In Chromatin Signaling And Epigenetic Regulation
Company:

Van Andel Institute

Details of the offer

Van Andel Institute (VAI), a world-class biomedical research institute, located in Grand Rapids, MI, is dedicated to improving human health. We are pioneers in the fight against cancer, Parkinson's, and other diseases. We are committed to inspiring the next generation of scientists and educators.
Van Andel Institute's (VAI) Professor Scott Rothbart, Ph.D. is hiring a Postdoctoral Fellow to join the lab and carry out an independent project studying molecular and cellular mechanisms that regulate chromatin accessibility, interaction, and function.
Why choose the Rothbart Laboratory?
* The lab is an interdisciplinary team developing new and innovative in vitro systems, "omic" technologies and computational approaches to answer key questions.
* Dr. Rothbart is an experienced investigator and mentor who is dedicated to the education and training of scientists to prepare them to become leaders in the biomedical science community.
* Trainees in the lab have been highly successful in obtaining individual fellowships, and the environment is ideal for those seeking training in scientific and grant writing skills development.
* Dr. Rothbart is a project leader on an NCI SPORE grant for Epigenetic Therapies and a basic science investigator on the Van Andel Institute-Stand Up to Cancer Epigenetics Dream Team. Major goals of these programs are to translate laboratory discoveries into clinical trials for cancer management.
* Dr. Rothbart is co-director of the VAI Cancer Epigenetics Training (CET) Program that provides a diverse group of postdoctoral fellows with unique and innovative research and professional development opportunities. Applicants are encouraged to review the CET webpage to determine if they are eligible and interested in applying to this program.
* The Rothbart Lab operates within the VAI Department of Epigenetics, which includes a world-class group of highly collaborative scientists seeking to understand roles for epigenetic mechanisms in development and disease.
Eligibility criteria
* A recent Ph.D. graduate with a strong background in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry or a related field
* Evidence of research productivity and the desire to take responsibility for the independent management of a project
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
The ideal candidate will be:
* a self-motivated and driven scientist who functions well in a team environment.
* a detail-oriented researcher who thinks critically and creatively to solve complex research problems.
* a collaborative, hands-on researcher who proactively shares knowledge and expertise with lab members and collaborators.
Why join Van Andel Institute as a Postdoctoral Fellow?
Postdoctoral fellows at VAI are key contributions to the Institute's mission to improve the health and enhance the lives of current and future generations.
Postdoctoral Fellows are full-time employees and receive a competitive annual salary beginning at $70,000.
