Job DescriptionThe Gómez-Bahamón lab at Virginia Tech is seeking a post-doctoral researcher interested in the ecological and evolutionary consequences of switching behavioral strategies in birds. The researcher will have the opportunity to work in several areas of ongoing research in the lab. These areas include studying the social interactions of migratory and non-migratory birds in the wintering grounds, the influence of range size and abundance in diversification dynamics, genomics of migratory switches, the role of demographic process in the evolution of behavior, and characterization of habitat preferences for performing behaviors at different life history stages.Candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to existing research projects and develop their own, as long as these align with the general research goals of the lab. Experience in both computational approaches and wet lab techniques is desirable. Depending on the candidate's research interests, there will be opportunities to engage in fieldwork in Colombia and/or Argentina. The researcher will also have the opportunity to mentor trainees.The Gómez-Bahamón lab welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds.
