Coverage Area: Tampa, FL office Salary: $18 - $20 / hour Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Offer Based on Years of Experience What You Need to Know Physician Support Specialist Responsibilities: Coordinate the scheduling of Physician's and Nurse Practitioner's (NP) visits with appropriate hospice and palliative care patients according to established protocols. Confirm dates and times of visits for each patient with physicians and NP's. Communicate all appointments via the Outlook calendar daily Maintain schedules for physicians and nurse practitioners in the field and notifies personnel and facilities of changes in assignments while accurately recording each visit in the EMR. In collaboration with the Sr Director-Clinical Operations and Medical Director, implement and manage systems to ensure all required components of the patient record are completed for palliative care patients (i.e.: consents, history and physical, orders, etc.) Process treatment plans, interim physician orders, recertification of prognosis as required. Monitor and track physician compliance with documentation requirements and submission of paper and electronic medical records. Review all insurance information before admission and work with the patient and the finance department to ensure all proper financial documentation is completed, updating changes in insurance information and/or payor source as appropriate Provide back-up coverage for the intake department; answer telephones, retrieve messages and schedule patients. Update the Census Report each day and distribute to interdisciplinary team members as required Maintain open charts by filing all clinical documentation in a timely manner. Review files weekly and follow up with the Sr Director-Clinical Operations and/or appropriate team member regarding paperwork deficiencies Participate in Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities and chart audits Qualifications Physician Support Specialist Qualifications: High School diploma required Two [2] years physician or scheduling experience preferred Minimum of one [1] year previous clerical experience, preferably in a medical setting or equivalent Medical Billing and Medical Terminology certification Must have strong communication and problem-solving skills, be self-motivated and service oriented.
