Responsibilities
• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing physical therapy services• Review and participate in making recommended changes to physical therapy policies, procedures, and manuals• Maintain treatment records and ensure resident records are not lost or mishandled• Interview residents or family members as necessary• Assist in applying physical therapy treatments and ambulatory training• Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals• Participate in in-service education and training programs• Follow safety and sanitation standards• Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies• Ensure physical therapy procedures align with resident care plans
Requirements
• Graduated from an accredited physical therapy program• Must have required state license in physical therapy• Experience in an assistant capacity in a medical facility• Initiative to carry out assigned tasks with or without supervision• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English• Ability to make independent decisions and interpret physical therapy policies• Ability to maintain supplies and equipment• Willingness to seek out new methods and incorporate them into therapy services• Ability to relate information about a resident's condition• Must meet general health requirements
