GS 11: 72,553 - 94,317 GS 12: 86,962 - 113,047 Responsibilities You will coordinate with and take guidance from CNMOC N3 Fleet Desk Leads and conduct liaison with CCMD and NCC staff to facilitate the development of requirements for Naval Oceanography (NO) products and services. You will develop and sustain broad and current understanding of Naval Oceanography (NO) capabilities, services, products, and policies. You will develop and sustain an in-depth situational awareness of Navy operations within the assigned AOR, with a focus on all Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC) Operations. You will collaborate with customers, staffs, and their incumbent representatives in the identification of new areas where environmental support can be provided and where present Naval Oceanography (NO) capability requires enhancement. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-11: In addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: *Experience assisting with applying of theories, concepts, principles, and practices of meteorology, oceanography and/or hydrography in operational military applications. *Experience assisting with preparing planning documents, requirements documents, guidance documents, concept of operations, master plans, or long-range plans as related to Fleet needs. *Experience assisting with utilizing organizational skills to track, document, and maintain records related to Fleet requirements process within command policy and regulatory guidelines. *Experience assisting with communicating effectively with stakeholders to include flag officers, other high-ranking staff members in situations requiring a high degree of tact and diplomacy. Applicants must possess: Basic Education Requirements: Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. or Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE for GS-11: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree (Transcripts must be provided.) SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE for GS-12: Not Applicable. Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. Applicant will embark shipboard visits exceeding periods longer than 24 hours. The incumbent is required to complete an embarkation physical exam. Applicant will undertake the PQS process and become an independent watch stander. After qualification, the incumbent will be inserted into the watch schedule in the MOC and stand an independent watch. Rotational watch assignments will be required. Some field observation / inspection trips may be performed on ships, small boats at sea, other afloat data collection platforms, or on rugged terrain ashore and by unusual means of travel. Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
