Job Description THE POSITION : Lead Pharmacist is a key service line management position responsible for the effective daily operations of Patient Services Care Team Pharmacists (clinical pharmacists). This individual reports to the Pharmacy Manager and works closely with the Technician Manager, Clinical Trial Coordinator and Warehouse Manager. The Lead Pharmacist leads by promoting adherence of patients to prescribed therapy, positive clinical outcomes and overall satisfaction of patients receiving rare disease therapy in both pre-commercial [clinical trial] and commercial stages. This position manages patient counseling, drug use review, pharmacist accuracy, adverse event reporting, and treatment adherence/compliance and on-call pharmacist services. The Lead Pharmacist is familiar with a variety of pharmacy practice concepts, safety focused practices and procedures. Pre-commercial programs are dedicated to servicing the needs of patients enrolled in and study sites participating in clinical trials and Expanded Access Programs (EAP) and supports all operations that touch ELSS pre-commercial services such as those from: Contract Research Organizations (CRO's), Interactive Response Technologies (IRT's), Pharmacies, Advocacy Groups and others.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains accuracy to ensure that all prescription orders are processed promptly. Accurately performs various functions involved in Pharmacy department including the development and implementation of workflow strategies and procedures, as it relates to day to day operations. Acts as a point of contact between the HUB (call center) or other Ancillary Pharmacy sites when it comes to patient escalations regarding medication related issues and concerns. Functions as a trainer for clinical program training for new pharmacy technicians and operational and clinical trainer for staff pharmacists, as well as provides continuing education training to current staff. Focuses on results in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner when dealing with customers, vendors, team members, and others. Accepts being accountable and responsible in work practices and expectations. Delivers what is promised. Fosters a collaborative, team-oriented attitude. Communicates effectively with others with clarity and transparency. Uses innovative critical and creative thinking to evaluate and solve work and customer issues. Seeks assistance in solving work problems through collaboration and information seeking. Schedules Pharmacists ensuring sufficient coverage for each client is supported and ensuring shift changes run smoothly. Adjusts pharmacist schedule accordingly do to workflow fluctuations and appropriately managing program volumes. Contributes to policy change, creates new and updated work instructions and SOPs Acting as pharmacy representative on various committees and work groups. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Exhibits strong customer service skills. Must be reliable, goal oriented, and possess the skills needed to work independently as well as with a team. Point person for initial patient escalations from the pharmacist team. Is regularly scheduled in pharmacy workflow. Speaks to EVERSANA pharmacy SOPs, WI, and processes during audits, accreditations, and inspections. Acts as a subject matter expert in pharmacy software system and facilitates training to staff. In the absence of more senior pharmacy leadership, authorized and responsible to act as pharmacy leader to ensure that all critical/essential duties and responsibilities are lawfully carried out  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. EXPECT AT IONS OF THE JOB: Travel up to 0-5% Hours 40 hours per week Monday to Friday during business hours. Must keep up with pharmacy regulations Maintain pharmacist licensure Qualifications MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: BS or BA Pharmacy degree or PharmD Licensed Pharmacist in Good Standing in MO 4 years' experience working as a pharmacist Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to read and analyze regulatory requirements and laws Excellent written and verbal communication skills required Ability to communicate changes effectively Ability to support training of designated representatives Ability to read and review regulatory requirements Detail oriented PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Pharmacist licensure in states that require non-resident PIC licensure for mail order pharmacy 4 years experience working in specialty pharmacy PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: This position requires light physical activity; the employee must occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force and up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, type and engage in repetitive motion. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop or crouch; stand or grasp. The employee is intermittently required to push or pull; climb, balance, or kneel. 
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This role requires mental alertness. The employee must regularly communicate both verbally and written; concentrate on tasks; and remember and observe details. The employee must frequently adjust to changes; handle stress and emotions; and think analytically. The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is not substantially exposed environmental conditions. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
