JOB PURPOSE : The People Development Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing and managing various programs that enhance employee development, wellbeing, knowledge, skills and organizational culture. They will review policies, procedure, and culture to identify barriers to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and create educational and system improvements in order to create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization.
The People Development Specialist will be responsible for managing our employee training, development and DEI initiatives, culture and wellbeing programs, and will build and execute resources to support internal mobility and succession planning. They will formulate strong partnerships across the organization to deliver value-added service to our employees to positively influence organizational performance and results by supporting growth and development of our employees. This position will report to the Director of People and Culture.
**Please note, successful candidate must have vast experience and understanding of California state employment laws and compliance, either by currently living and working in the HR Field in California for a minimum of 2 years or extensive knowledge gained in a prior HR role in California.** COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: We strive to offer progressive benefits to our employees. The annual base compensation range $75-$85k per year. Actual compensation on this range varies based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including location, job level, prior experience, and skill set. 401k with up to 5% Employer match Health Premium covered at 100% for individuals (for select plans) Dental, Vision, Accident, Critical Illness, Group & Voluntary Life Insurance and AD&D Unlimited PTO 100% Paid family leave up to 12 weeks Key Accountabilities Employee Training, Development and Mobility (50%) Performance Review Management (20%) Special Projects and Ad Hoc work (20%) Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Culture Programs (10%) DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Employee Training, Development and Mobility Assess and analyze organizational knowledge and skill gaps and responds by building development programs, or promoting global BayWa r.e. learning programs, improve employee effectiveness, engagement, and promote internal mobility. Develop a scalable approach to change management and training on projects, assessing needs and budgeting resources. Partner with managers to create employee development plans that unlock employee potential and increase organizational performance. Refine current processes with automation, and training and development solutions that solve inefficiencies and productivity. Support new managers in developing a purposeful, value-driven leadership style that enables them to achieve great results and build the next generation of leaders. Evaluate and monitor training and development programs and effectiveness, and makes necessary adjustments to meet organizational objectives and employee learning needs. Performance Review Management Oversees the administration of the performance review cycle, facilitating performance review conversations with managers, interact with appropriate individuals/groups to resolve errors, and ensure procedures are followed and adequate controls are in place. Recognize, present, and help to implement workflow and process improvement recommendations. Ensure the alignment of compensation design and process initiatives with business goals and objectives. Develop strong relationships and partnerships with clients and key stakeholders. Continuously develop our performance review processes to ensure performance and development conversations continue to provide employees with clear expectations and growth opportunities. Maintain awareness of industry trends as it relates to Performance Review Management. Partner with various teams to capture technological needs and requirements. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Culture Programs Participate in global BayWa r.e. DEI initiatives and create action plans to implement DEI resources in alignment with business objectives. Champion a positive and inclusive culture by promoting our company mission, vision, and values, and building employee wellbeing programs. Educate and engage the workforce on understanding how bias, privilege, and discrimination impact diversity, equity, and inclusion. Create common language and understanding of the issues in order to improve the culture. Develop, implement, and evaluate employee professional development and learning programs to promote cultural understanding and competence in support of anti-racism, diversity, equity and inclusion. Schedule and conduct exit interviews with offboarding employees and stay interviews with current workforce. Gather, analyze and translate data to understand barriers towards diversity, equity, and inclusion. Research and develop metrics and evaluation processes to assess the effectiveness of DEI and Culture Programs. Ensure DEI and culture programs are consistent with business objectives, internal standards, and regulatory requirements. Stays informed of new employment and discrimination laws, regulations, and trends. Special Projects & Ad Hoc Work: Complete assignments and projects for the People team, as needed. Work in partnership with the People Operations Partner and serve as backup for employee relations and other HR matters (i.e. bi-weekly payroll, investigations, corrective action, HRIS system support). Benchmark jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for positions. Research external partners and trends to bring relevant and valuable content to the organization. Establish and track People metrics for programs to measure effectiveness, regularly report on progress and identify areas of improvement. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices. Protects the organization's value by keeping information confidential. Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES: Demonstrable experience in shaping and leading the deployment and embedding of cutting edge, perceptibly impactful Training & Development strategies in fast moving, dynamic environments. Strong communication skills both written and verbal across and up and down the organization the ability to develop and deliver effective communication presentations. Exceptional written communication skills, along with the ability to communicate with diverse audiences. Ability to demonstrate a high degree of energy, passion, inspirational leadership, and strong focus on customer engagement, collaboration and satisfaction. Knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as virtual training, demonstrations, on-the job training, meetings, conferences and or workshops and training software. Strong comprehension of adult learning and how to adapt to different audiences. Knowledge of best practices for assessing training needs and developing and delivering training content. Demonstrated ability to think analytically and creatively. Exceptional organizational skills, and attention to detail. Demonstrable excellence in 'change management' skills and learning agility. Self-starter with excellent time management skills with a proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Able to build relationships at all levels of the organization. Excellent project management skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficiency with Talent Management and Learning Management Systems. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience. A minimum of three (3) years of generalist level experience. Proven human resources experience. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification highly desired. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job there will be:
Regularly required to sit, talk, use repetitive motion, type, and hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle and feel, and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and reach overhead. SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS: None TR AVEL REQUIREMENTS: Willing to travel between 5% to 10% of time.
