Closing Date: March 22nd, 2024 or upon receipt of 50 applicant submissions Peer Specialist - ACT TeamBehavioral Health ServicesHourly Range: $18.91 - $27.41Job Summary: The Peer Specialist will be an essential part of the service delivery for individuals served by the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team. This position must be able to effectively provide guidance, coaching, and support to consumers and the professionals serving them based on their own lived experience with mental health and/or substance abuse. Job Duties:Provide expertise to the team about recovery process, symptom management, and the persistence required by consumers to have a satisfying life. Collaborate to promote a team culture that recognizes, understands, and respects each consumer's point of view.Responsible to help maximize consumer choice, self-determination and decision-making in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of treatment, rehabilitation, and support services. Provide peer counseling and consultation to individual consumers, families, and other natural supports, using their own lived experience and recovery path to be in a helpful role to others.Act as a liaison with community resources, carry out rehabilitative and support functions. Assist in treatment, education, support and consultation to consumers and their natural supports under the clinical supervision of credentialed staff.Complete clinically sound and timely documentation of all services rendered on behalf of consumers served by ACT team in the Electronic Medical Record. Maintain a productivity level of 75% or greater.Travel up to 75% within the community is required.Minimum Requirements:Current Wisconsin residentValid Wisconsin driver's license and access to a reliable insured vehicle, both maintained throughout employmentHigh School Diploma/GED equivalentMust be licensed as a Certified Peer Specialist in the State of Wisconsin; REQUIRED for this positionAt least one (1) year of recent experience providing peer specialist services to individuals with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI)Must be a current or former recipient of mental health services for mental illness, should have self-knowledge and self-awareness of their own mental health diagnosis/illness and how to effectively live independently and function well in the community.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good oral and written communication skills; knowledge of health services providing care to adults; knowledge of community resources in the area of behavioral health and social services and the ability to utilize them effectively; knowledge of mental disorders and substance use disorders; knowledge of laws governing mental health commitments; skill in interviewing patients and family members and accurately assessing their needs; ability to work as a member of a mental health care team; ability to work with people of all social, economic and educational levels; ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships; ability to work effectively and harmoniously with staff, patients, families, and agencies; able to life/carry/push/pull up to 15lbs as needed.NOTE: This ORIGINAL APPLICATION is open to qualified residents of the State of Wisconsin at the time of application.
