Patient Financial Counselor

Job summary
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Patient Financial Counselor to work remotely within Portland, OR.Patient Financial Counselors are part of a team who has direct interaction with patients and their families either on the phone or in person.They are responsible for easing the way in resolution of patient accounts through financial clearance, payment collection, obtaining sponsorship, and financial assistance.

Responsibilities
• Interact with patients and their families to resolve patient accounts• Provide financial clearance and assistance• Obtain sponsorship for patients• Complete and submit applications for State and Federal sponsorship programs• Assist patients in determining eligibility for financial assistance
Requirements
• H.S. Diploma or GED required• Two or more years of experience in a hospital, clinic, or healthcare business office required• Minimum of three years of experience required, or proven success as a Patient Financial Advocate Associate, preferably with Providence St. Joseph Health or its Affiliates• 2 years of experience in automated, computerized account follow-up system required, preferably in Epic• Knowledge in reimbursement of health care accounts from insurance companies preferred• Previous experience with medical and health plan terminology preferred
