Positions available as needed during the Fall, Winter, and/or Spring quarters of the 2023-24 academic year. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications, experience, and time base.Applicants with an academic and practical background in the following disciplines are encouraged to apply: Music, Dance, Theater, Visual Arts, History, Social Studies, English, Language Arts, Literacy, Elementary School Education and Educational Leadership.Responsibilities may include teaching one or more undergraduate courses in community-based field experience, storytelling, children's literature, constitutional issues in American education, introduction to the visual and performing arts, as well as application to the K-8 education.Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2022, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:Lecturer A: $4,530-$6,056Lecturer B: $5,405-$11,994Lecturer C: $6,190-$13,172Lecturer D: $7,794-$13,797REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree plus teaching experience in the K-8 classroom and interest in teach preparation.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMaster's Degree and five years K-8 teaching experience in public schools.SPECIAL CONDITIONSThe person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
