Responsibilities
• Fight fires and provide emergency medical treatment• Rescue people from dangerous situations• Maintain fire equipment, apparatus, and facilities• Perform hazardous materials and fire prevention duties• Improve fire suppression services and departmental effectiveness• Create a safer community• Respond to over 4,000 calls annually
Requirements
• Knowledge of fire suppression and prevention principles, procedures, techniques and equipment• Knowledge of Emergency Medical Services procedures, techniques, principals and equipment• Ability to apply standard firefighting and EMS techniques to specific situations• Ability to perform strenuous or peak physical effort• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing• Ability to establish effective working relationships• Ability to act effectively in emergency and stressful situations• Completion of Employment Application• Completion of Candidate Physical Ability Test - CPAT or OPAT (within past year of application submission)• Completion of EMPCO standard entry level written firefighter test
