Job No: 536285; 02/19/2024PARKING OFFICERParking Officer IPublic SafetySalary Range:$3505 - $5057/Monthly (Budgeted Salary Range $3505 - $3638/Monthly)Work Schedule:Full-Time, Monday – Thursday, 12:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.; non-exempt classification.Essential Functions:Under the general supervision of the Director of Parking and Transportation Services, the incumbent will patrol parking lots, provide traffic direction and control, enforce parking regulations; provide customer service, issue parking citations and provide guidance and information to campus drivers and visiting community. Incumbent will assist customers at parking pay stations, with the use of the parking mobile app and answer questions related to the license plate recognition (LPR) technology. Incumbent will follow a beat schedule; conduct traffic control consistently throughout the week during peak hours; conduct foot patrol in parking lots; issue parking citations to vehicles violating parking regulations and for all violations under the California Vehicle Code; prepare citation files for Municipal Court appearances and appear as an expert witness for third level appeals in representation of the university. Incumbent will respond to field service calls such as unlocking vehicle doors and performing vehicle battery jumps; assist with collection and deposit of parking meter funds; enforce disabled placards' misuse, perform scofflaw vehicle tows; and serve as an escort for emergency vehicles and first aid personnel. Incumbent will assist with campus events' parking needs; attend and maintain essential training; cover breaks at the Information Center; perform parking space occupancy surveys. Incumbent will provide guidance for campus special events, such as Commencement, Orientations, Preview Day as well as concerts and events held on campus; and will follow policies and procedures established by the Department. Required Qualifications & Experience:Six months of related experience. Must possess a valid California Drivers' License. Incumbent must have experience using Word and Excel software programs. Knowledge of University parking regulations, California Vehicle Code parking sections and all department policies as well as a working knowledge of applicable radio codes and equipment. Must possess strong interpersonal skills and good reading, writing and mathematical skills. Detail-oriented with the ability to be clear and concise; relate to faculty, staff, students and the general public in a tactful and cooperative manner; interface and communicate effectively with diverse community; work independently; and make reasonable decisions with limited or no supervision. Incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
