The Outbound Contacts Specialist position in the Outbound Contacts Unit is responsible for preparing (bursting & trimming) continuous feed tax notices and refund checks, sorting, reviewing departmental notices for anomalies prior to sending to taxpayers, inserting them into envelopes, applying the correct amount of postage, and finalizing them for mailing to taxpayers in a manner that conforms with the Department of Revenue, legislative, and Postal requirements. Outbound mail volumes are generally up to 15,000 per day, but in peak times during the month and year, volumes may be over 40,000, requiring mandatory overtime in order to process mail in accordance with Senate Bill 242, other legislative mandates, and Department of Revenue and US Postal Service requirements. This position is also responsible for reviewing and researching returned mail and refund checks. Tax laws, regulations, and oral/written instructions as to methodology, procedures and policies define the scope of the work. The mission is accomplished by researching returns filed with the Department of Revenue and corresponding with taxpayers and/or their representatives on tax issues, reviewing and researching taxpayer accounts and records, initiating notices of adjustment, assessments, refunds, credits, and other information necessary to inform taxpayers on the status of their accounts with the Department of Revenue.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
