Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company's portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross' Nevada operations.The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Senior Geologist, is responsible for mine geology and/or exploration duties, as required while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross' values.Essential Functions1. Geologic mapping and sampling. (Surface and Underground)2. Ore control. (Surface and Underground)3. Database management (Experience with AcQuire and/or SQL knowledge is a plus).4. Structural mapping and modeling5. Performs work assignments in a timely manner.6. Represents the company with drilling and other contractors.7. Responsible to manage the RMGC Environmental Health and Safety Management system in his/her areas of responsibility.8. Bachelor's degree in geologic sciences is required.9. Entry level or one to three years of experience in mine and/or exploration geology.10. Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis.11.
