Job Summary: Design optics for interior and exterior automotive lighting products, and perform day-to-day lighting-related tasks, including designing optics with Lucidshape, SPEOS, and/or CATIA. Attend customer and internal meetings; and test, troubleshoot, and write optical performance reports. Work directly with an Optics Technical Specialist to deliver quality optics designs that are manufacturable with injection molding techniques, and that meet customer and manufacturing requirements. Evaluate tradeoffs in concept designs using CAD, predictive engineering, value analysis/value engineering, testing, and simultaneous engineering with the manufacturing plants. Provide the necessary information to support designs that can be manufactured cost effectively while meeting customer requirements including performance and durability. Provide optics prescriptions that perform in production tooled components as predicted by simulations on a First Time Through basis to avoid tooling changes and program timing effects. Follow the project through customer testing and into production. YOUR KEY ATTRIBUTES: You have 7+ years of experience in the automotive optical lighting field. Master's degree focused in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related engineering discipline preferred. You are knowledgeable in the following areas: Basic optics principles. Law of reflection. Law of refraction. How scattering works. You are able to learn and work in a fast-paced environment and occasionally travel as needed. You are accountable and demonstrate integrity by delivering what is promised.
