The Kellogg Eye Center seeks to improve lives through curing, preventing and treating eye disease.
To perform basic tests and procedures under the close supervision of medical and allied health staff. Mastery of all basic tests and procedures.
Perform the duties of an ophthalmic technician as well as: Perform ophthalmic test and procedures with proficiency in the ophthalmic sub-specialties. Coordinate follow-up care of patients Assist in training and coordinating the work of ophthalmic assistants and technicians and interns. Participate in research studies Actively assist in clinic workflow, scheduling of technicians, communicating delays to patients. Onboarding of new employees. Other duties as directed by supervisor. Provide exceptional patient service Assist in clinical procedures. Collaborative and collegial, demonstrates integrity. Respectful and compassionate attitude. High School graduation, some experience in ophthalmology or related field. Certification at the COT level Minimum of 2 to 5 years experience as an Ophthalmic Technician. Keyboarding skills Electronic Medical Record experience Associates Degree in Health area College degree Monday- Friday Hours: Dependent on Clinical need Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
