POSITION SUMMARY:
Simulation OperationsAssistant position supports simulation-based and learning lab experiences at USFHealth. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides support in the use of simulation in healthcare settings. Assists with setup and break downs of the simulation room in preparation for simulation scenarios, including equipment, supplies, and manikin moulage.Prepares and maintains lab equipment and materials related to simulation. Ensures labs, specialized equipment and supplies are wellorganized, clean, and ready for use.
Operates patient simulators and other related systems such as cameras, microphones and AV anddebriefing systems as needed. Assist with the daily operational activities in simulation training areas to include hardware, software and AVtechnical support, facility, and equipment set-up for teaching sessions. Learn to perform preventative maintenance in accordance with thepublished schedules for each training device.
Provide technical support/assistance under the direction of the Simulation OperationsManager to students, faculty, and other users of the Lab. In collaboration with other Simulation Operations Specialists and Manager, learnto conduct orientation, training and ongoing support of simulation faculty and learners during simulation. Learn to troubleshoot, simulatoroperation, and rectify basic operational and maintenance issues. Assist in the restoration of failed equipment or refer such failures tomore qualified/experienced staff.
Perform housekeeping functions and complete data gathering at the start and finish of scheduledtraining sessions as indicated by the Simulation Operations Manager. Learn maintenance management system to record and track maintenanceactivities. Learn to provide care, periodic maintenance, and repairs (as appropriate) of mannequins, and other simulation center equipment,under minimal supervision.
Serves as an assistant to upper management and senior staff members. Adhere to legal and ethical standardsregarding confidentiality, privacy, and data security within the context of healthcare simulation. Stay up to date with medical terminology,procedures, and relevant evidence-based guidelines to ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation. May attend meetings and contribute tocollege committee work as appropriate and as assigned by leadership. Receives direct guidance and supervision from the Simulation OperationsManager.
Performs other duties as assigned. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
High SchoolDiploma or GED; 1-2 years' experience in healthcare support or related type setting. Appropriate education may substitute for the requiredexperience on a year-for-year basis. Must be willing and able to cover a variety of scheduled times to accommodate the academic schedulingneeds. PREFERRED:
Associate degree or bachelor's degree in simulation, Technology, Education, Healthcare, orrelated discipline. 2-3 years of experience in direct patient care within hospital, clinical setting or supporting faculty in an academic orprofessional development environment.
