The Operating Engineer I/II - Electrical installs, repairs and performs preventive maintenance on electrical systems and apparatus in a medical research center environment. This position can be filled with an individual possessing either a 07 or a 01 Electrical License (WA State). If the individual possesses a 07 License (maintenance Electrician license) the individual will be required to have a grade 3 boiler license or the ability to obtain one within 2 years and qualify as a watchstanders. Additionally the individual will be expected to periodically stand a watchstanders rotation. If the individual processes an 01 License (Journeyman Electrician) the individual will be encouraged to obtain a grade 3 boiler license (City of Seattle) but the boiler license will not be mandatory. The individual will still be required to periodically work weekends. 
This position will report onsite at our South Lake Union Campus. 
Individual will be assigned to the electrical team and will work a Monday through Friday day shift. In addition to performing general electrical work as outlined below, this individual will often times work in a team environment with licensed electrical trainees and as such be expected to mentor them and verify the number of hours and type of work so that the trainees may account for their hours requirement in pursuit of their 07 license. Additionally, while a boiler license may not be required (In the case of an 01 license), the individual will still be expected to be proficient and able to perform all aspects of being a watchstander short of the boiler requirement. Individual may also be assigned to work with and/or train apprentices.
Type of work to be performed: Note: Other duties, including maintenance and repair duties unrelated to electrical work, may be assigned as needed. Focus on Corrective Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance of campus electrical equipment Focus on customer service and meeting the needs of high level, critical laboratory functions Daily use of eMaint (CMMS) to complete assignments Correct lighting control system problems Performs periodic confidence testing of electrical equipment, as required. Perform Generator tests and work on UPS systems Perform Emergency repairs as required May be required to perform misc minor maintenance in other fields as required when in the rotating Trade Call position Installs wiring for machines and equipment such as lab equipment, freezers, programmable controllers, lights, etc., under the direction of the Lead Electrician. Diagnoses malfunctioning wiring, transformers, motors, relays, switches, UPS/s, position sensing devices, and lighting fixtures, and replaces or repairs same. Work with other shifts and trades to pass on critical information regarding campus or equipment status OE I: A skilled professional who generally has over 5 years of experience in boiler room operations, equipment maintenance, construction, or similar trades related to mechanical maintenance. OE II: A skilled professional who has 3-4 years of experience in boiler room operations, equipment maintenance, construction, or similar trades related to mechanical maintenance.
High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of three years' experience in boiler room operations, equipment maintenance, construction, or WA State Dept. of Labor and Industries/ Journeyman Nonresidential Maintenance Certificate (07), General Journeyman (EL01) or Master Electrician (ME01), license is strongly desired  Must have current Grade III City of Seattle Boiler Operator License or be able to obtain one within 6 months. Possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver's License or ID. Physical skills necessary to climb, bend, stoop, lift and perform tasks utilizing ladders and scaffolds, etc. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Dependable, on-time and proven good work habits. Good communications skills. Able to work a varied schedule including shift work. OE I: The hourly contracted rate for this position is a flat rate of $45.93 , which is inclusive of a $7.75 Central Pension Fund diversion.
OE II : The hourly contracted rate for this position is a flat rate of $39.18 w hich is inclusive of a $4.89 Central Pension Fund diversion.  
Position is eligible for shift differentials, premiums for licenses, and other wage premiums as governed by the collective bargaining agreement. ?
