The City Manager is the chief administrative officer of the city government and is responsible to the City Council for the efficient administration of all city departments, except the department under the direction of the City Attorney. The Office Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the City Manager's Office and providing administrative support to the City Management team. Employees in this job may have a formal supervisory role and train, guide, prioritize, or lead employees in the designated work unit. Employees work as part of a team and ensure objectives are met.
DUTIES Maintains effective working relationships with City Council members, community members, and coworkers. Prepares correspondence and other documents utilizing applicable software within established procedures. Provides advanced and varied administrative support utilizing discretion and independent judgment. Receives communications into the office and transfers as necessary to the appropriate parties. Provides courteous service to external and internal customers verbally and in writing. Monitors and maintains supplies and other materials to support the office. Serves in a confidential capacity regarding employer-employee relations. Attends and represents the City Manager's Office at meetings. Schedules meetings and maintains calendars as needed. Maintains electronic records on the office's file server. Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS An associate degree (or 60 credit hours) in business, business administration, or a related field is required. Five years of progressively responsible office experience, including one year of office management and supervisory experience. Applicants with equivalent education and experience may also be considered. Self-starter and able to work independently. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Proficient with computer software applications, including Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, and Excel). Applicants must possess a valid Michigan driver's license with a good driving record (based on City of Troy standards). Out-of-state applicants must provide a current driving record at the time of application and obtain a State of Michigan license within one (1) month of appointment. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen (including marijuana). PREFERENCES Previous work experience in municipal administrative support. HOURS :
Full-time, year-round. Forty (40) hours per week, Monday-Friday (8:00 am - 4:30 pm; standard hours). Hours may vary for special events or programs. APPLY Applications are available online at .
