This opportunity entails being responsible for the production and modification of Overhead Contact System (OCS) design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects. This position consults with the project manager to perform research, development, calculations, design and delivery.
Primary Focus of Role
Responsible for the design of complete OCS drawings including master overlap charts, sectionalizing diagrams, general drawings, assembly drawings, OCS layouts and schedules, staging drawings construction details, and specific OCS details
Responsible for the production of OCS specifications, schedules, cost estimates, calculations and reports
Responsible for cost control on projects and quality control within OCS discipline or assigned work tasks
Resolve problems, interpret design criteria and applicable codes, investigate design and field engineering difficulties and coordinate schedules
Manage single and multi-discipline OCS engineering projects and develop cost-effective design solutions
Provide technical guidance and mentoring of project team members, including other engineers and technical support staff (CADD techs)
Lead a small team of engineers in the execution of project design and production on both small and large projects
Coordinate and integrate designs with other systems disciplines and other project civil/structural/architectural disciplines
Prepare and check design drawings and/or specifications
Review and check engineering work completed by others
Oversee planning, design and construction phases of projects
Serve as technical liaison with client on project efforts
Market to clients in pursuit of additional projects
Support project discovery and marketing as well as support proposal writing
What You'll Do:
Uses senior-level technical expertise to consider broad range of engineering solutions.
Responsible for the discipline-specific planning, work distribution, and leadership and adherence to the schedule, and budget on complex or unusual engineering projects.
Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
Develops scope of work and level of effort and manages adherence to scope and budget on complex or unusual engineering projects within discipline.
Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team's work within the technical discipline.
Provides technical guidance and mentoring to team members to achieve overall project objectives on complex or unusual engineering projects.
Coordinates technical aspects of the project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline on complex or unusual engineering projects.
Leads discipline delivery on larger, multi-disciplinary projects. Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
Assists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work for other disciplines on multi-discipline projects on complex or unusual engineering projects
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience, or
Master's degree in Engineering and 7 years of relevant experience, or
PhD in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience

What We Prefer:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering
10 years of relevant OCS experience.
PE preferred (CA, WA, CO) or ability to obtain
Preference for candidates to work full time in the Los Angeles area

The approximate pay range for California is $112,206.31 - $199,434.29. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
The approximate pay range for Washington is $102,005.74 - $183,479.55. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
