Responsibilities
• Collaborate with nursing and medical staff in development and review of standards• Provide direct nursing care when necessary• Oversee patient flow through UIHC continuum of care• Serve as active participant in inpatient rounding• Independently coordinate and facilitate patient care between multiple disciplines• Facilitate care of patient(s) requiring admission• Act as a clinical resource or consultant• Participate in implementation and requirements of managed care programs• Autonomously communicate with healthcare team and referring physicians• Provide leadership for direct patient care programs• Participate in decision-making process at unit/division/department level• Provide input into financial management activities• Participate in ongoing implementation of regulatory standards• Design and implement patient/family health education activities• Assist with designated quality database• Use relevant nursing research to improve clinical practice• Interact with staff, patients, medical staff, peers, and others professionally• Assume responsibility for maintaining clinical expertise• Develop management and consultant skills• Adhere to professional and legal standards of nursing practice• Maintain confidentiality of patient and staff information• Support a work environment that fosters teamwork• Analyze own performance and develop goals• Follow general policies and procedures
Requirements
• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing required• Minimum 1 year providing direct nursing care or management/supervision of cardiovascular medical/surgical patient population required• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required• Current certification in BLS required• Current license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa required
