Job Description and Duties This position is in the Client Services, Information Security Engineering, and System Engineering domains.  Under the direction of the Medical Board of California (MBC) Information Technology Manager II and the Chief Technology Officer for the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA), the incumbent serves as a specialist for the MBC Network Team, responsible for the maintenance of the MBC network infrastructure. The incumbent provides technical support maintaining, troubleshooting and providing solutions for the infrastructure environment which includes: Local Area Network (LAN)/Wide Area Network (WAN), user devices, virtual and physical servers, firewalls, switches, and routers serving 400+ end-users in statewide field offices and Sacramento headquarters. The incumbent is a team member on the more complex systems software projects, and/or works independently as a high-level expert technical specialist to perform the more complex tasks that are used to plan, analyze, design, code, implement, maintain, manage, troubleshoot and protect the MBC network infrastructure/systems.

Special Requirements The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired. Title 11, section 703 (d) of the California Code of Regulations requires criminal record checks of all personnel who have access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI). Pursuant to this requirement, applicants for this position will be required to submit fingerprints to the Department of Justice and be cleared before hiring. In accordance to DCA's (CORI) procedures, clearance shall be maintained while employed in a CORI-designated position. Additionally, the position routinely works with sensitive and confidential issues and/or materials and is expected to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of documents and topics pertaining to individuals or to sensitive program matters at all times.
