Expected Outcomes and Requirements:
Gateway is hiring a Network Engineer to use their experience in design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of our IP networks in support of our goal of adding 100,000 residential & business passings per year. The Network Engineer is expected to contribute in the following significant ways:
Achieve investigation and solutioning of advanced network requirements and problems through development and application of research techniques, theories, and advanced solution methods.
Utilize performance, maintainability, capacity, and reliability analysis as KPI's to assess network engineering plans and systems design.
Implement network and/or network applications and track performance and reliability.
Develop and utilize a network needs assessment and forecasting model.
Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to resolve complex and unique technical problems.
Serve as an internal resource to assist other departments in issue resolution, customer communication, and general education.
The successful candidate will bring the following to the table:
2+ to 5 years' experience in Carrier Grade Layer 3 Core Network Routing, Architecture, Design, and Implementation.

Knowledge of the following:

Knowledge of Juniper

JUNOS

preferred.
Juniper

MX

Series Core Routers experience preferred.
Knowledge of Cisco, and/or other Core Router manufacturers may be considered.
Routing Protocol Knowledge ( OSPFv3, IS-IS, BGP, IBGP, RIP ) is absolutely required. Experience with MPLS, Multicast and various WAN protocols is required.
Cisco Catalyst Switch Knowledge is a plus.
Calix GPON/XGS-PON/AXOS experience is a Plus.
Working knowledge in both Unix/Linux and Windows.
Layer 1, DWDM, CWDM, Optical Transceiver knowledge is a plus.

2+ to 5 years' experience in Carrier Grade Layer 3 Core Network Routing, Architecture, Design, and Implementation.

IPv4 and IPv6 numbering schemes, aggregation, and allocation. Experience with deploying a dual stack IPv4/IPv6 environment a plus.
Ability to learn and integrate new technologies in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional attention to detail and advanced problem-resolution skills.
The ideal candidate will be able to analyze sniffer traces and be able to resolve various routing issues.
Excellent Communications and Interpersonal Skills required, with a passion for the Internet, its growth, and related new technologies.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related educational path preferred.
Ability to sit or stand at a computer for 8+ hours per day.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull at least 80 pounds while traversing a dynamic jobsite environment.
Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to sit in a vehicle for prolonged periods of time, up to 6 hours or longer.
