JOB SUMMARY Family Healthcare Associates (now a part of Catalyst Health Group) is seeking a Laboratory Technician. Responsible for performing laboratory testing using approved standard operating procedures. Under the general direction of the Laboratory Director and/or a designated CLS, candidate will perform pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical procedures and analyses according to the California Lab Law and Regulations permitted for Medical Laboratory Technician to provide data for health maintenance, diagnoses, treatment and monitoring of medical conditions. Maintains quality control, quality assurance, and preventive maintenance in accordance with department policies and the Quality Assurance Program. Successfully operates and troubleshoots laboratory instrumentation and laboratory computer systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE Work as a team with other Lab technicians to ensure patients are processed in a timely manner and according to the organization's protocol and procedures. This would include verification of patient's identity and ensuring all orders are placed in the EMR/EHR systems before the procedure begins. Ensure a high degree of customer service is practiced with each patient. Assists patient in dressing for exam and attends to patient's physical wellbeing during the exam and procedure process. Complete blood draws as efficiently as possible. Collects specimens in the proper container based on test that was ordered. May educate patient and family regarding the plan of treatment or procedure. Obtain lab samples and completely fill out lab slips and other forms, when necessary. Follow universal precautions to protect self and patients. Stock procedure rooms with supplies. Takes responsibility of medical equipment cleaning, quality control and sterilization in accordance with OSHA guidelines. May assist in the lab by performing blood draws. Ability to relate to the public regardless of racial, ethnic and economic status. Promotes and believes in providing quality healthcare services and education to the community in a convenient and compassionate manner. May perform other duties as assigned. NCT Certification Required. Phlebotomy certification preferred. CPR certification preferred. Proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills. 1+ years' experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
