The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting a full-time (1.0 FTE) Naturopathic Physician in the Clinical Research Division of Fred Hutch and a Teaching Associate in the Division of Medical Oncology, Department of Medicine at the UW. This is a full-time clinical position. This position would have an annual service period of 12 months [July 1-June 30]. The primary appointment will be in the Clinical Research Division of Fred Hutch. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Appointments as Teaching Associate are normally structured per University guidelines as a 12-month term, followed by reappointment on an annual basis.
The Naturopathic Physician clinical position will be under the direction of Dr. Heather Greenlee, a faculty member of the Public Health Sciences and Clinical Research Divisions and Medical Director of Integrative Medicine Program at Fred Hutch. The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center outpatient hospital is a comprehensive cancer treatment center that treats various types of cancer and has multiple community clinical sites. The Integrative Medicine Program's research uses both clinical trials and observational studies to examine a broad range of lifestyle modifications (diet, physical activity, weight management) and complementary/integrative therapies (acupuncture, acupressure, mind-body medicine) for cancer prevention and control, especially in under-resourced and vulnerable populations.
The Naturopathic Physician will provide evaluation and medical management to patients at Fred Hutch using evidence-based integrative medicine therapies.
The Naturopathic Physician will:
Provide an integrative medicine approach to the evaluation and medical management to Oncology and Hematology patients through the Integrative Medicine Program. Assess and manage medical needs of the outpatient oncology patients, address treatment toxicities, and perform integrative medicine procedures (e.g., acupressure) as related to the practice of integrative medicine. Consult with and refer to professional peers as part of the Supportive Care interdisciplinary team working collaboratively with the treatment team to coordinate care of their patients.  Perform clinical consults both in-person and via telehealth. Perform all clinical responsibilities within the scope of practice and institutional privileges. Deliver presentations on Integrative Medicine to internal and external provider and patient audiences. Lead team clinical operations meetings. Collaborate on research. Teach clinical fellows during observational rotations. Engage in other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Current and valid Washington state Naturopathic Physician Licensure. Graduate Degree from an accredited naturopathic medicine program. Minimum of 2 years of experience in the use of integrative medicine therapies in a clinical setting that provided both integrative medicine and conventional medicine. Integrative medicine therapies include dietary supplements, mind-body medicine therapies, acupressure and other evidence based integrative medicine therapies as well as lifestyle practices that have been shown to improve cancer outcomes. Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience working with oncology patients in a primary care, specialty, and/or oncology setting. A working knowledge of basic oncology principles and practice. Skilled clinician, providing evidence-based diagnosis and management of integrative medicine therapies related to the acute, symptomatic, and palliative care needs of patients with cancer. An effective educator teaching and providing information about disease processes, treatments, and management of treatment toxicities to patients, their family, and other caregivers from an integrative medicine perspective. An effective educator of MD's, APP's, RN's, and MA's and supportive care professionals in the basic principles and practice of integrative medicine therapies as part of supportive oncology care and these therapies add value to patient care. The ND in this role needs to teach and communicate in an effective and practical way to incorporate integrative medicine approaches into the patient's plan of care. Demonstrated excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment. This includes clear and timely communication with all members of the team. Demonstrated excellent documentation skills. Effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in the care of oncology patients. If the successful candidate wishes to engage in an independent clinical practice outside of Fred Hutch and the University of Washington, including volunteer activities, they will require approval through the University of Washington School of Medicine practice plan site of practice approval process. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Additional training as an Advanced Practice Provider (ARNP/PA-C) with national certification Additional training in acupuncture as an Eastern Medicine Practitioner with Washington State licensure Training in mind-body medicine therapies Training in medical acupuncture and/or auricular acupuncture Training in acupressure Research experience Engagement in national and international integrative medicine organizations Experience in program development with an educator mindset Comfortable speaking publicly with peers and patients A cover letter is requested and preferred but is not required.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $133,244.80 to $210,600.00, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
