Position Summary- Natural Resources Division - Foreman Empire Landscape is seeking a qualified invasive species management foreman or the potential to quickly move into the foreman position with training. Foreman will have physical field work along with managerial responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities Invasive Species Management Foreman: Supervises, coordinates and actively works with crew engaged in invasive species management. Other responsibilities may include reforestation, storm water management and bioretention plantings, root pruning and tree work. Will perform work involving large construction companies, county parks and complexes, municipal properties, wetlands, roadsides and residential properties in the Maryland, Virginia, and DC area.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages a team of 2 - 7 crew members; encouraging a focus on quality, productivity and safety. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and company policies. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work to facilitate quality and efficient work. Serves as a first line of communication with employees that have ideas or issues.
Education and Experience Two or four year degree in environmental science or related field and six months to one year related environmental restoration or invasive species management experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Working Conditions
Must have valid US Driver's License with a good driving record Must have an understanding of or the ability to learn invasive species management techniques Must have MD Pesticide Certifications category 2 and 5; or the ability to pass the test within 6 months of hire date Ability and willingness to do physical work in all climates for 8 – 10 hours per day and lift 50 lbs Must be able to work 5 days per week and weekends if needed Must be willing to learn and understand environmental restoration processes Knowledge of Spanish is a plus Dependability is essential for the job!
