OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENTAdministrative Analyst/Specialist - Exempt I** Temporary Position anticipated until June 30, 2026. **RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:Supports the process of fulfilling CSUCI's NAGPRA, CalNAGPRA, and AB 52 responsibilities and leads campus AB275/52 consultation activities. Studies, analyzes, evaluates, develops, and improves administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs related to collections management, NAGPRA/CalNAGPRA compliance, and AB 52 consultation responsibilities. Undertakes proactive, ethical, and sensitive engagement with Tribes. Facilitates Tribal and campus access to collections, and the repatriation of any ancestral and cultural remains as deemed necessary via consultation with Tribes. Rehouses, manages, and collects documentation of campus archaeological collections in collaboration with Anthropology program personnel to create and centralize inventories. Represents the University as the lead NAGPRA staff at regular meetings with Tribal government officials and representatives to coordinate NAGPRA compliance, address Tribal concerns, and when possible, negotiate culturally sensitive resolutions. Represents the University at the CSU CalNAGPRA coordinator's meetings. Collaboratively works with the campus Tribal liaison, the President's Chumash Advisory Council, and the Anthropology program. Serves on the President's Chumash Advisory Council. Performs other related duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:Education:Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology, Native American Studies, Museum Studies, or a related field; master's degree preferred. At least three years of direct experience working on NAGPRA compliance may substitute a bachelor's degree.Experience:At least two years of experience related to working with archeological and cultural materials.Other Knowledge/Skills:Ability to navigate highly sensitive and confidential issues and to act with a high degree of cultural sensitivity. Commitment to respecting and deferring to Tribal preferences and guidance regarding the respectful handling of sensitive cultural items. Experience working with archeological and cultural materials. Knowledge of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) (25 U.S.C. § 3001-13) legislation and its implementing regulations (43 C.F.R. § 10.1-.17) as well as CalNAGPRA legislation (AB 275). Experience analyzing, evaluating, developing and/or improving upon administrative policies, procedures, practices, and programs. Excellent research, writing, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to establish goals, workload priorities, and to follow through to successful completion. Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and effectively on many projects simultaneously. Ability to maintain detailed, accurate, and orderly records. Experience with Microsoft Suite Programs. Repetitive movements including pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, crouching, regularly lifting and moving materials up to 40 lbs., and the use of push carts. Travel may be required with advance notice when possible. Occasional early morning, late evening, and/or weekend hours may be required with advanced notice when possible.Preferred qualifications: Knowledge of acceptable museum practices and standards for collections care, collections management, and documentation methods for collections. Knowledge of Californian Native American Tribes both contemporary and historical - especially Chumash. Experience and knowledge of standard archaeological field practices and documentation. Experience working with archival records and experience using museum databases.A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083, revised July 21, 2017, as a condition of employment.Hiring range:$4,170 to $5,000 per month
