Job Summary: Come join our team in the Office of Admissions and Recruitment (OAR) within the Division of Enrollment Management at UW-Madison! We are admissions professionals dedicated to recruiting, admitting, and enrolling the next generation of UW-Madison undergraduates.

To support this commitment, OAR seeks Multicultural Recruitment Coordinators to organize and support institutional efforts to grow undergraduate applications from students with historically underrepresented backgrounds, including students of color, low-income, first-generation, and students from rural backgrounds in Wisconsin and across the country. The Multicultural Recruitment Coordinator will engage prospective students, families, and guests on UW-Madison admissions policies and procedures while representing the institution to campus visitors and at select off-campus events. The person in this role will also participate in the holistic application review of a robust and talented applicant pool of 63,000+ students.

Responsibilities: Plans, develops, coordinates, manages, and executes the recruitment and admissions process in alignment with the institution's strategic goals. Represents the institution to prospective students with a goal of attracting, admitting, and enrolling a talented, diverse student body. May supervise staff and/or lead a program area. 10% Counsels prospective and admitted students on educational planning and career opportunities 20% Reviews, evaluates, and responds to student applications according to established policies and procedures 10% Identifies opportunities for and develops admissions and outreach events 5% Schedules logistics and secures resources for events to promote the Institution 5% Evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement 10% Delivers directed admissions program messaging to internal and external audiences 10% Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships focusing on outreach, recruitment, and admission 25% Engages in extensive outreach and recruitment events, representing the university to prospective students 5% DEM is committed to the highest standard of service. This position will be a role model by practicing exemplary and respectful behaviors in all interactions. Participation in community and culture building activities are mandatory Tasks: Learn and communicate undergraduate admissions policies, procedures, and processes; offer professional, efficient, and friendly service to students/families, school counselors, and the public via email, phone, in-person, and virtually Conduct application review and admissions processes as assigned primarily for first year applicants Engage in direct recruitment of prospective international students, their families, and school personnel via in-person, virtual, or hybrid opportunities in assigned travels or territories Implement focused engagement designed to increase the enrollment of students from multicultural backgrounds Build relationships with prospective students/families from underrepresented populations, and work with community based organizations within WI, MN and IL primarily, and across the country as needed Partner with UW-Madison departments and organizations that support the outreach, recruitment, and retention of multicultural students Identify and establish rapport with campus partners who can help nourish more inclusive outreach and recruitment efforts Participate in annual conferences, workshops, and webinars to develop professionally in admissions and recruitment to better serve the diverse student populations Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison. Qualifications: Required:
-Experience in college admissions, pre-college programs, or college access organizations
-Experience working with students/families from backgrounds historically underrepresented in higher education
-Ability and willingness to travel locally and nationally
-Evening and weekend in-person and virtual work as well as limited travel required during peak times
Highly qualified candidates may possess the following:
-Knowledge of the college admission recruitment cycle and best practices in recruiting, admitting, and enrolling students
-Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, collaboration, public speaking, and customer service skills
-Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills; ability to work independently in a high volume office and exercise sound judgment
-Experience evaluating applications through a selective admission process, preferably at a four-year institution
-Proficiency with database systems, Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel), Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems (i.e., Salesforce), etc.
-Proficiency with reading, writing and speaking in a language(s) besides English
License/Certification: Required
Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards
This position may involve travel. Incumbents must be able to meet the required criteria to become a UW Authorized Driver which allows employees to drive for business purposes. Required criteria can be seen here:

This position is a Madison-based position with most activities performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location (40%-60% in person). Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
