Position Overview
As a High School Mathematics Teacher, you will be a highly qualified, state-certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. You will provide instruction, support, and guidance, managing the learning process while focusing on the individual needs of each student. Working from home, you will occasionally travel throughout the year to various school functions such as state testing or as otherwise required by the school.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Excellence
Take ownership of students' academic progress and attendance, setting high expectations and actively engaging in students' achievement.
Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests.
Conduct live synchronous teaching for a minimum of 15 hours per week.
Provide asynchronous support, including composing emails, planning course objectives, and using data to determine student needs.
Collaborate with local, regional, and national teams on instruction, resources, interventions, and data-driven decision-making.
Be open to regular coaching with administrators and teacher trainers.
Relationship Building
Establish and maintain positive rapport with families, regularly communicating with students and learning coaches/parents.
Support learning coaches/parents with student curricular and instructional issues in a virtual classroom environment.
Assist students and learning coaches with setting up and maintaining their learning environment.
Collaborate with other teachers to ensure student success and provide a central point of contact for parents.
Respond to students, parents, and colleagues in a timely manner.
Other Essential Functions
Organize social and educational activities for students and families.
Travel to testing sites to proctor state exams.
Requirements
Certificates and Licenses: Appropriate teaching certification required.
Residency Requirements: West Virginia preferred. Consideration given to residents of Kentucky, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
Other Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and six (6) months of student teaching experience.
Ability to clear required background check(s).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
Experience working with diverse age groups and supporting individuals in technology use.
Virtual teaching experience and familiarity with online platforms (e.g., Blackboard Collaborative, Newrow, Edgelink) preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
We offer a competitive salary based on education, experience, and location, typically in the range of $48,000. Eligible employees may receive bonuses. Additional benefits include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
