Position Summary:If you have a passion for biblical counseling, an interest in life coaching, and a willingness to encourage college students, this nine-month academic position may be the right fit for you! Position begins August 9th, 2024.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Be available to students, including living in the residence hall. Meet with each new student to BJU both in the first and second semesterMeet with the assistant group leaders every week. Work with your resident supervisor to hold regular leader meetings. Be alert to the needs of the students by noticing those who are struggling or who are dealing with significant issuesMeet each week with the students on disciplinary probation as well as those needing weekly accountability or those who request regular counselKeep the resident supervisor informed concerning the needs of studentsMaintain regular office and front desk hoursBe present at weekly staff meetings both in and out of the residence hallRegularly check on international students to see if they are adjusting wellVisit those that are in the hospitalTransport students to medical facilitiesAssist in working toward solutions with the student leaders when controversies arise in the roomMeet all students during the first weeks of schoolAttend discipleship seminarsVisit discipleship groups throughout the residence hallEnforce BJU policiesParticipate in room check and resident good nights (curfew check)Assist resident supervisor in following up with church and outreach accountability Grow in biblical counseling proficiency through experience and studyREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Above all, the counselor is to be an example of the believer in word, thought and action. He sets the tone for the residence hall in many ways. His job is to be integrally involved with the leadership framework of the residence hall. He is to assist the supervisor in whatever capacity necessary. He is to keep his walk close to the Lord so that he is able to minister in the power of the Holy Spirit in order to see lasting change in those to whom he ministers.#LI-Onsite
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience: Must be enrolled in a BJU Graduate Program
