Job Summary: The Medical Laboratory Scientist/Certified will be responsible for performing clinical laboratory testing in a fast-paced academic medical center. The Laboratory provides services to all aspects of this Level I trauma center and throughout the healthcare enterprise, including solid organ and bone marrow transplant, KY Children's Hospital, and Markey Cancer Center. This position will be instrumental in maintaining a quality of service based on accuracy and timely result reporting. This position will be located in the Blood Bank, and testing will include, but is not limited to, type and screen, cross-matching, antibody workup, elution, absorption, antibody titering, neonatal workup, and component preparation. This CAP and AABB -Accredited Laboratory at the University of Kentucky showcases the use of state-of-the-art instrumentation and technology. Required License/Registration/Certification : American Society for Clinical Pathology ( ASCP ) certification must be obtained within 6 months from date of hire
Preferred Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science preferred. Previous Blood Bank experience preferred.
