Description Ketchum Health Medical Clinic is looking for a qualified and experienced Medical Biller to perform billing duties for services rendered by the clinic providers and medical staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSI­­BILITIES Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits to facilitate smooth billing processes. Ensure proper coding of medical procedures and services following current California coding guidelines and regulations. Submit accurate and timely medical claims to insurance carriers, ensuring compliance with California regulations and industry standards. Post payments and adjustments accurately, reconciling discrepancies and addressing any issues promptly. Generate patient statements, manage inquiries, and assist in resolving billing-related concerns in compliance with privacy and confidentiality laws. Investigate and appeal denied claims, working closely with insurance companies to resolve issues and maximize reimbursement. Function as the primary point of contact for all billing-related inquiries from patients. Train clinic staff on billing-related matters, staying updated on industry changes and communicating updates effectively. Deliver support, guidance, and clarification on billing procedures and protocols to clinic staff by answering questions regarding billing processes, codes, and reimbursement issues. Maintain organized and accurate records of billing activities, including patient information, claims, and payments. Uphold confidentiality and only access areas of the Electronic Medical Record system required for billing matters. Stay informed about changes in California's healthcare regulations, billing codes, and industry standards, ensuring the clinic's adherence to all applicable billing guidelines. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The r­equirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Minimum 2 years of direct experience and knowledge in medical billing within a clinic, hospital, health center, or insurance carrier. Preferably medical billing performed for Primary Care, Family Medicine, and/or Urgent Care. Thorough understanding of California's rules and regulations related to medical billing. Strong understanding of medical coding, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes. Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and pathophysiology. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, medical insurance companies, and internal clinical staff effectively. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and record-keeping. Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) and billing software. Preferably Nextgen Office EHR and Waystar clearinghouse. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Any other duties related to medical billing as needed and/or requested by the clinic director or clinic staff. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Certified Professional Biller (CPB) Certification. Certified Family Practice Coder (CFPC) Certification is a plus. High school diploma or GED certificate.
