Responsibilities The medical assistant performs assigned tasks of direct and indirect care in the ambulatory setting to meet the care needs of patients under the direct supervision of a physician (medical acts) or assigned supervisor. The medical assistant participates as a member of the health care team and accepts appropriate delegation from the RN or physician in meeting needs of the patient/family. The medical assistant performs assigned tasks in accordance with the patient care plan, policies and procedures of the organization and principles of relationship-based care. The medical assistant carries out designated activities that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed health care personnel.
Cardiology Department Structure: A team that focuses on delivering the best Cardiovascular care to patients on campus or at home; a person who has touched Cardiovascular inherently senses contact with excellence.
Diverse specialty patient populations include:
o Cardiology: Multimodality Cardiac Imaging (Echo, CT, MRI, Nuclear imaging, Stress testing), Vascular Medicine (Arteries, Veins, Lymph nodes), Cardiac Electrophysiology (Pacemaker, ICD, CRT, Ablation for AF/SVT/PVCs, Device Clinic, EKG, Holter), Interventional and Structural Heart Disease (TAVR, LAAO, TEER) & Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathy (Heart Failure Clinic, Cardiac Amyloid, Pulmonary Hypertension) and Rehabilitation (Cardiac).
o Cardiovascular Surgery: CABG (open and minimally invasive, pioneered off pump surgery), Valve Replacement/Repair, Major Aortic Surgery, EVAR, TEVAR, Thoracic (Robotic and open), Thoracic & Vascular trauma, Esophageal & Foregut Cancer, Carotid Endarterectomy.
o Vascular Surgery: Endarterectomy, Lower extremity Angioplasty, Femoral Bypass, Abdomen Aorta Stenting, Atherectomy, Fistula creation, Endovenous Ablation, Renal Artery stenting
160+ members of our team including Physicians, NP/PAs, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, Clinical Assistants, Medical Administrative Assistants, Certified Exercise Physiologists, EKG & ECHO techs.
Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent and graduate from a Medical Assistant diploma or associate degree program or have obtained a Medical Assistant Certification.
If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of recent medical assistant experience working in an applicable setting.
Additional qualifications: Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Computer proficiency required, including prior experience with electronic medical record systems. Ability to work daytime hours, flexibility may be required to meet staffing needs. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
License or certification: Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association, American Red Cross.
Active Medical Assistant certification (CMA), or registration (RMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) is preferred. Exemption Status
