The Mechanical Engineering Intern will be assigned to a functional Team Manager and an internship mentor. Work performed will be hands on, may contribute to a project as a whole, but does not directly impact the outcome.
At the conclusion of the internship, the intern will have a clear understanding of how their studies directly contribute to their course of study and/or the medical device industry.

This is a part-time summer internship position (less than 30hrs a week), working with the Mechanical Engineering Team at Kestra.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Project: A defined development project will be assigned for completion over the internship term. Responsibilities will include creating a plan/schedule; completing basic technology research; design of prototypes and fixtures; procurement/fabrication; and testing. The outputs will include a detailed report of methods and findings. A project mentor will be assigned to help provide guidance and will conduct regular check-in meetings (1:1's)
• Design Support: Support for design and drafting updates may be included as time allows
• Project Report: A DHF report will be released in Arena documenting the results and findings
• Project Presentation: At internship end, the internship project results and findings will be presented to the engineering team and executives

Requirements QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience Required:
• 2nd year or higher undergraduate in Mechanical Engineering degree
• Working knowledge of 3D CAD Modeling tools
• Hand-on prototyping skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Familiarity with engineering documentation and drawings
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Indoor open office environment
• Minimal noise volume typical to an office environment
• Extended/overtime hours when needed
• Drug-free, as per FDA regulations
INTERNSHIP ELIGIBILITY:
• Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within the past 6 months
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment with Kestra Medical Technologies
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
• Must provide own transportation to/from work
• Must successful complete and pass a criminal and employment background screening that meets the allowable FDA requirements and is in accordance with EEOC rules and regulations
• Must successfully pass a pre-internship drug screen
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Frequent repetitive motions that may include wrists, hands and/or fingers, such as keyboard and mouse usage
• Frequent stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time
• Frequent computers use
• Frequent phone and other business machine use
• Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds

Benefits Pay: $22.50/hour
