INTRODUCTION and WHAT YOU WILL DO (Job Responsibilities)
INTRODUCTION:    This entry level mechanical engineering position will be involved in assisting the engineering team with product design efforts, creating 3D/2D CAD files, build and test of prototypes, and assisting manufacturing engineering with the implementation of new parts and features.  This position will be split primarily between office work and hands-on work in a laboratory and manufacturing floor environment. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Support product changes through specification investigation and 3D modeling & print development. Work with mechanical engineering team to carryout engineering evaluations and calculations to support design efforts. Responsible for the building, testing, and communicating results of prototype builds. Assist in generating test specifications, setting up test scenarios, test fixtures, analyzing/reporting results, and making formal recommendations for improvement. Involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of Hennessy-designed products. Support manufacturing engineering through part build and manufacturing troubleshooting. Support manufacturing engineering in the design, development, and implementation of fixturing for various manufacturing processes. Organize and/or work on cross-functional teams and contribute to projects from development handoff through production launch. Maintain positive and effective working relationships with all team members. Support daily KPIs related to fabrication and machining. WHO YOU ARE (Qualifications)
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering required. 0-2 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience in direct work experience or CO-OP, internship, or university projects. Demonstrated CAD experience required, Creo preferred. Formal training or experience in applying ASME Y14.5 GD&T preferred. Knowledge of various manufacturing processes including milling, turning, metal forming, and welding preferred. Experience with testing, test setup and reporting. Familiarity with DFMEA / PFMEA / DFA / DFM preferred. Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic power systems preferred. Experience with 3D printing and other rapid prototyping processes preferred.
