This position may work closely with the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations ( OCED ) which is a multi-technology office responsible for overseeing more than $27B of investment in large scale demonstrations in emerging technologies such as clean hydrogen, carbon capture, advanced nuclear reactors, grid-scale energy storage, industrial emissions reductions as well as demonstrations in rural and socioeconomically disadvantaged regions.
Job Responsibilities: + Conduct independent engineering / due diligence technical advisory reviews of clean energy technologies and projects
+ Able to evaluate the expected or actual functionality and performance of technology and project
+ Identify key gaps / needs as it relates to the functionality and performance of technology and project
+ Identify project risks and risks mitigants of technology and project
+ Articulate recommendations for improvement (when necessary)
+ Work in teams and independently to provide engineering expertise on various clean energy technologies
+ Draft independent engineering / due diligence reports on evaluated technologies
+ Able to draft a data table and risk table (as part of an independent engineering / due diligence report or otherwise)
+ Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication – communicating succinctly and clearly
+ Liaise with a variety of stakeholders when providing engineering expertise (e.g., clients, technology providers, other engineering disciplines.)
Qualifications: + Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering
+ Background in power and energy generation, particularly with clean energy and renewable energy technologies, for example:
+ Wind energy power generation
+ Solar PV power generation
+ Energy storage systems (e.g., BESS )
+ Fossil fuel power generation
+ Combustion systems
+ Carbon dioxide (CO2) capture and sequestration systems
+ Hydrogen
