This gives all children a foundation to achieve their full potential at every stage of life.The Math Coach is responsible for working with classroom teachers in assisting with the full implementation and monitoring of the NBFAs adopted math program in response to intervention needed for student achievement. The Math Coach must build and maintain open lines of communication with teachers to aid them in gaining content mastery. The Math Coach must comply with state and federal education laws and regulations at all times.Principal Accountabilities:1. Research and provide staff support to improve teaching and learning including teaching strategies, assessment of math skills, interpretation, and use of assessment results, etc2. Research and provide information and guidance regarding a range of effective and innovative math practices through various activities such as individual discussions (informal and formal), coaching sessions, demonstration lessons with pre- and post- discussion/analysis, study groups, staff meetings, and professional development programs3. Provide support and assistance to all classroom teachers in the full implementation of NBFAs adopted math program4. Conduct demonstration lessons to ensure that all teachers have been trained to an advanced level of delivery and are using the instructional materials as designed5. Provide on-site staff development to ensure that teachers are knowledgeable about program components and understand the instructional design of how the program meets the standards6. Assist teachers in creating an interactive classroom and ensure that recommendations for improvement are implemented7. Serve as a resource in identifying appropriate instructional strategies and interventions to improve student achievement for all students8. Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment school-wide9. Participate in school-wide and grade level data teams and Professional Learning Communities to share best practices and help improve overall school performance10. Support grade-level teams in integrating math content with other subject areas through an interdisciplinary approach11. Ensure that student growth is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification12. Assist teacher in preparation pacing for instruction13. Participate in collaborative grade level meetings to assist in the analysis and utilization of assessment data to improve the focus of instructional planning and student achievement14. Meet regularly with administrators to review benchmarks and established data points to assess student progress toward instructional goals15. Prepare forms, records and reports as directed16. Attends meetings and trainings as directedCertification, Knowledge and Skills: The Math Coach must:1. Maintain a current Connecticut teacher certification (029 or 229)2. Master content area and be able to effectively share best practices to help colleagues attain goals3. Understand that all work responsibilities are subject to performance goals and/or targets established as part of the Boards and schools organizational planning4. Fervently believe in NBFAs mission and be willing to work diligently to positively impact the life outcomes of our studentsCompensation: Per collective bargaining agreement
