Position Overview: MKA is seeking a talented and creative Marketing Writer to join our in-house Communications Office. The Marketing Writer will play a crucial role in crafting compelling and engaging content to promote MKA and its programs to prospective families, alumni, donors, and the wider community. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your writing skills while contributing to the growth and success of our school.
Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Communications team to develop and execute marketing strategies that align with the school's brand and objectives. Collaborate with the Advancement team, Head of School, and Head of Campuses to hone our storytelling connected to mission, vision, and values. Write, edit, and proofread a variety of marketing materials, including website content, brochures, newsletters, social media posts, press releases, and email campaigns. Create compelling stories and narratives that highlight the unique features, achievements, and values of MKA. Conduct interviews with students, faculty, alumni, and other stakeholders to gather testimonials and insights for marketing content. Research industry trends, best practices, and competitor activity to inform content strategy and messaging. Execute and optimize website updates and email campaigns. Distribute electronic communications including news posts, emergency alerts, and other communications to external and internal audiences. Ensure all marketing materials adhere to brand guidelines and maintain a consistent tone, style, and voice. Collaborate with graphic designers, photographers, and other team members to develop multimedia content that enhances storytelling and engagement. Stay current with developments in Independent School education, marketing, and communications to identify new opportunities and approaches. Note: This job description outlines the primary duties and qualifications for the Marketing Writer position but is not exhaustive. Responsibilities may evolve based on the needs of the Communications Office and the school.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism, or a related field. Proven experience (3+ years) in marketing writing, content creation, or copywriting, preferably in an educational or non-profit setting. Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and persuasive content for diverse audiences. Strong storytelling abilities, with a knack for transforming complex information into engaging narratives. Excellent research skills, with the ability to gather information from multiple sources and synthesize it into compelling stories and content. Familiarity with digital marketing tools and platforms, including content management systems (CMS), Google suite, email marketing software, and social media management tools. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, or similar) and video/audio and editing tools a plus. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
