Starting Salary: $27.00 per hour
Schedule: Part-time, 19 hours per week
Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Library Director, the Marketing Specialist is responsible for helping to plan, coordinate, and execute all branding and marketing initiatives at the Library, maximizing awareness and usage of the Library's collections, programs, and services. Provides content and graphic design for print and online promotional materials; maintains and develops content for the Library's website and social media accounts.
Qualifications: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Education: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, journalism, or related field.
E xperience: Minimum of two years of experience in a marketing, communications, advertising or public affairs environment. Two years' experience writing and editing a variety of marketing content and other business communications.
Non-profit experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skill & Ability Strong graphic design experience and creative abilities, including experience with: Adobe Suite, Photoshop, Canva etc. Experience utilizing marketing related software, social media platforms and digital applications such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools, online analytics, Google Adwords, etc. Current trends related to marketing, communications, and other areas of responsibility. Best practices in marketing of library services. Web development and web maintenance applications. Responsibilities: Organizes and coordinates the Library's marketing programs and strategies to increase visibility and awareness of its services, resources, and programs. Develops, produces, executes, and measures success of marketing and public relations campaigns and strategies in line with Library objectives; designs, writes, creates, and publishes marketing materials; prepares newsletters, email blasts, graphic design, brochures and handbooks, posters, and promotional videos to promote the mission, values, and strategic goals of the Library as well as programs, special events, and related services; disseminates information to and elicits feedback from the community; monitors, analyzes, and reports on the effectiveness of marketing communications; develops and maintains the Library's brand. Researches, writes, and distributes press releases to targeted media; prepares related written and marketing material; edits and approves promotional materials generated by other staff to ensure consistency with branding; maintains effective internal communications to ensure all Library staff are kept informed of marketing objectives. Creates and maintains the Library's digital marketing presence; designs and maintains the website to publicize services, programs, and resources; manages and updates information and engages with users on social media sites. Gathers, tracks, and compiles media and marketing stakeholder lists, reports and metrics for marketing related initiatives, keeping track of what's popular among Library users. Drafts, edits, and coordinates distribution of business communications, correspondence, forms, statistics, reports and other materials. Coordinates the organization's media contacts and other key stakeholder list(s). Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive materials and information.
