NICOR is looking for a self-motivated individual to join our in-house Manufacturing Technician (Man-Tech) team. A qualified candidate will repair, make product modifications, and perform in-house assembly. We are looking for a strong individual who is able to collaborate with other teams. Successful applicants will exhibit a high level of accountability, integrity, and respect.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assembles applicable LED lighting components. Operate appropriate production equipment using safety methods. Closely follow guidelines, blueprints, and/or diagrams of the products being manufactured. Ensure that all the necessary product specifications are met. Comply with the company's and Underwriter Laboratories (UL) standards. Implement process improvements to help reduce costs and improve the quality of manufactured products. Work closely with design and manufacturing engineers on projects, test units, new lighting fixtures, etc. Monitor and assist other Manufacturing Technicians, particularly in troubleshooting potential equipment failures, damages, and issues with production batches. Confirm correct materials and appropriate quantities are used, and report any discrepancies. Perform equipment duties in production according to standard operating procedures. Assist with daily manufacturing operations in the manufacturing facility. Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards. Repair, make product modifications, and perform in-house assembly. Comfortably work while standing for long periods of time. Must be able to lift, hold mechanical assemblies, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or GED PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of manufacturing and/or warehouse processes/procedures. Ability to interpret schematics and guidelines. Basic math skills. Excellent problem-solving abilities. Ability to recognize and communicate potential problems. Evaluate and categorize objects and information. Must be able to follow instructions. Ability to work independently. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a warehouse environment with exposure to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, and fumes. Moderate to extreme physical activity requires handling of average-weight objects up to 35 pounds occasionally 75 pounds. Requires standing and/or walking for more than six (6) hours per day.
