POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for drying the mixed product to the appropriate powder specifications. Monitor and adjust the dryer controls to ensure efficient production.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Dry various products on dryer to meet the necessary dryer production deadlinesControl the dryer functions and drying process to ensure that final product is in specification and meets all company and customer standardsComplete CIP and COP of product holding tanks, lines, dryer and related equipment to ensure cleanliness as per SOPAdhere to proper sanitation and product safety guidelines throughout the plant by practicing good housekeeping, maintaining quality of products, and preventing contamination of ingredients and finished productMaintain proper documentation of drying processes according to outside agency guidelines as well as SOPs and GMPsSample product according to SOPs and GMPs to verify qualityPerform routine inspections of all dryer-related equipment to ensure that equipment is in top working condition by following proper running procedures, performing low-end maintenance, and reporting equipment and safety issues to the maintenance departmentCollaborate with all employees on performance and continuous improvement of daily operations as well as trial runs of new products to determine optimum efficiencies and conditions by communicating verbally with employees at shift change and throughout the shift as well as via the dryer logFollow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and HAACP Programs to ensure food safetyCommunicate with and assist others (packaging, mixer, etc.) by giving breaks, checking silos, etc. to promote teamwork and make things run smoother and more efficientlyFollow all safety rules and programs to prevent injury to self and othersDeliver product to warehouse as necessary to promote efficient workflowTake initiative to continually participate and seek improvements for the success of Balchem and our customersOther duties may be assigned REQUIREMENTS: High school education; 6 months of industrial experienceProblem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfullyAbility to respond to requests for service and assistanceAbility to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listen and get clarificationAbility to write clearly and informatively; presents numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written informationWork with integrity and ethicallyAdapt to changes in the work environmentAbility to follow instructions, respond to management direction; take responsibility for own actionsApproach others in a tactful mannerDemonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; look for ways to improve and promote qualityObserve safety and security procedures WORKING CONDITIONS: Plant/manufacturing environmentExposure to hazardous conditions at timesFrequent exposure to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particlesOccasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat (non-weather) and vibrationThe noise level in the work environment is usually loud Balchem is committed to a workplace culture that values and promotes diversity, inclusion, equal employment opportunities, and a work environment free of harassment and hostility.
