Full job description As a Model Maker, you will be responsible for fabricating prototypes and modifying current products to support upcoming projects. You will also assist Manufacturing Engineer's with work instructions, creating test and building fixtures.
This is a full-time, long-term contract position with a manufacturing company here in Manitowoc.
Key Responsibilities:
Model Fabrication : Interpret design specifications, sketches, or CAD drawings to create prototypes using a variety of materials and techniques. Material Selection : Determine the most suitable materials for each project based on factors such as durability, appearance, functionality, and cost-effectiveness. Assembly and Finishing : Assemble individual components into finished models or prototypes, paying close attention to fit, alignment, and overall aesthetics. Apply surface finishes, textures, paints, or other treatments as needed to achieve the desired appearance and functionality. Testing and Evaluation : Collaborate with design and engineering teams to conduct functional testing and evaluation of prototypes, identifying areas for improvement or refinement. Make necessary adjustments or modifications to prototypes based on feedback and test results.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 6:00a-2:30p
Requirements:
High School Diploma required Brazing/Welding experience preferred Ability to use hand tools, experience with machine tools a plus Ability to read engineering prints/schematics Sheetmetal Fabrication and/or Carpentry skills Basic electrical knowledge Ability to stand & walk on concrete 100% of the day Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, lift and carry 35lbs, and work in hot/cold environments for reasonable periods of time Safely use lifting/hoisting equipment
