The role of the Category Manager IM&S (Indirect Materials and Services) is to develop, plan and implement the procurement and logistics strategy for an assigned category or group of categories, with a focus on optimizing costs, quality, delivery and reliability. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that we keep the plants running with a reliable supply chain, accomplishing this by managing risks and costs by leveraging ABB's requirements worldwide. Category Manager IM&S find the best available globally competitive source of materials or services. They coordinate with engineering, manufacturing and operations to add value, drive continuous improvement and satisfy our customer.
Your responsibilities Develop, negotiate, and administer contracts for key suppliers, manage supplier base Enforce terms and conditions of purchase orders and other agreements and compliance with legal requirements and company policy Resolve nonconformance issues, back charges and claims in a timely manner to minimize the company's exposure. Identify areas of risk within supply chain, implement appropriate mitigation measures Work with teams and users to ensure internal customer needs are met Oversee performance management (cost, reliability, quality) of suppliers. Provide regular performance feedback to suppliers, and drive corrective actions as required Develop supplier spend reports to identify targeted improvements, leveraging value for the company Seek opportunities to expand diverse supplier spend Lead continuous improvement events with suppliers, improves total cost of ownership Manage cost and assets (cost, productivity, inventory) Works with the operations team to maximize value across the supply chain and drive a culture of continual improvement Maintain knowledge of market and industry trends within area of expertise and communicate potential impact on business Monitor changes affecting supply and demand, track market conditions, price trends and future markets Monitor supplier market characteristics regularly, identifies opportunities resulting from market shifts and takes advantage of such shifts Act as central point of expertise and knowledge for users in assigned spend categories Your background Bachelor's Degree in business or technical field with minimum of 8 years related experience Excellent analytical, communication and leadership skills APICS or ISM certification desired Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US Benefits Retirement plan Life insurance Disability insurance Wellbeing program Healthcare plan More about us ABB's NEMA Motors Division markets, designs and manufactures the market-leading Baldor-Reliance® brand of industrial motors.
